Which in the list would you consider your strength? Why?
I would consider having a vision as my strength because as an art teacher I have learned that the art curriculum is based on projects. There is no other meaning behind the projects other than the fact that they have nice outcomes. I have learned that I want to give art meaning. I want my students to create with a purpose and a passion. I want my students to know what they can do with art. That it is more than just learning to draw or paint.
Which in the list needs a little work? How could you address this?
I would say that I could need a little work in being confident. I know how great of a teacher I have come to be and I know that I deserve the job but I think that in the midst of trying to graduate and studying for certification exams, the confidence gets lost, especially as a first year teacher. In the end, all I need is reassurance to keep my confidence high.
Is there anything missing from the list that you would add?
If I could add something to the list I would add tips on how to best answer common interview questions because I think that's a concern for all first year teachers being that we have never sat in a teacher interview before.
